How to Set Up Alberta Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) with Delight Home Health Care

Navigating home care funding in Alberta is easier when you know the steps. Here’s how you can set up Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) and receive services through Delight Home Health Care — without paying out of pocket.
STEP 1
Contact Alberta Health Services (AHS) for an Assessment
Start by calling AHS Continuing Care Access at 1-855-371-4122 or get in touch with your local AHS office.
Request an in-home assessment for home care.

An AHS Case Manager (typically a nurse or social worker) will visit to assess your needs and determine your eligibility for publicly funded care.
STEP 2
Ask About the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) Option
If you’re eligible, request to participate in Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) — Alberta’s version of Client-Directed Care.

This option allows you to choose your preferred care provider, such as Delight Home Health Care, while funding is managed through Alberta Blue Cross at a fixed hourly rate.
STEP 3
Get Registered with Alberta Blue Cross
Once approved, AHS will help enroll you with Alberta Blue Cross, the program’s administrator.

You’ll be allocated a monthly care budget, based on your assessed needs.

The funds will not be sent to you directly — instead, Delight Home Health Care will invoice Alberta Blue Cross directly for the services provided within your approved hours.
STEP 4
Contact Delight Home Health Care
Reach out to our team and let us know you’ve been approved for CDHCI under Alberta Blue Cross.

We’ll coordinate your care at the approved AHS hourly rate, ensuring you receive the services you need without any out-of-pocket expense.

Together, we’ll build a personalized care plan tailored to your health and lifestyle.
STEP 5
Sign Your Service Agreement
We’ll prepare a simple service agreement outlining your care schedule and services — all within your approved funding.

Once signed, Delight Home Health Care will handle all billing directly with Alberta Blue Cross, so you don’t have to worry about managing invoices or payments.
STEP 6
Start Receiving Care and Stay Informed
Your home care services will begin as scheduled.

We’ll take care of submitting your service hours to Alberta Blue Cross and will provide monthly statements for your records.

As long as your services stay within your approved funding, you won’t be charged directly.
For any questions about eligibility or our services, call us at 780 902 4131 or send us a message, and we’ll get back to you promptly.
